Chael Sonnen (27-12-1, pictured) is going to be smaller than Jon Jones (17-1) in UFC 159 when they face each other? Mike Dolce, Chael Sonnen nutricionist, denies it.
After going to Sao Paulo to corner Vitor Belfort and Nik Lentz, two of his clients, Dolce talked with ImperioMMA about the Sonnen-Jones light heavyweight championship bout.
“Everybody thinks that Jones is bigger than Sonnen, but that’s not true. Sonnen walks at 240 lbs, almost the same as Jones. I’ve never seen Sonnen so strong and motivated in my life, he’s training harder and harder,” said the former UFC fighter and creator of the Dolce Diet. “Chael is an extremely organized and focused guy, he’s ready for the fight and he’s going to be stronger than Jones in the fight day, a lot of people will be surprised.”
After losing to Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen entered in a true roller coaster at UFC. He almost faced Jon Jones at UFC 151, but the light heavyweight king declined the fight and Sonnen was booked to face Forrest Griffin at UFC 155. With Jones out for a bit because of an arm injury, Dana White decided to put “Bones” and Sonnen to coach The Ultimate Fighter 17. Now, the two men are going to face each other at UFC 159 at Newark, New Jersey, USA in April 27th.
“There is still three months before the fight, but Chael is already training the hardest. If Jones is thinking that the fight is going to be easy, he is wrong. I think that Chael will put him down and will show his power in the fight. I expect that,” completed Mike Dolce.
